Think Gold!

We celebrated our 3rd anniversary with AU Mojave Prospectors. Casey Kassai wanted to thank AU Mojave for their support in helping us start our club; but, before he could, his health declined to the point where he could not.  So, to honor Casey and AU Mojave, we, the members of Inland Empire Prospectors & Miners, extend our thanks and prayers.

The picnic was a great success - Great foods and a good time were had.  The coin shoot was also very good.  Steve Micklas recovered the most coins and won a Silver Round.  We're looking foward to perhaps making this an annual event.

To all -- good prospecting and may you always find gold in your pan!

Dale M. Wahlfeldt
President

K.L. Kassai ("Casey") passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2010.  He was loved by everyone that knew him.
He requested that his ashes be scattered in Holcomb Valley near Big Bear.

K. L. "Casey" Kassai  10-20-41

Casey passed away Sunday, 2-14-10, after a long illness.  He was an avid, knowledgeable gold prospector most of his life and a Life Member of the GPAA.

Casey often volunteered his time doing gold panning demonstrations for the local schools.  He was also an Associate Instructor at U. C. Riverside working with Jim Straight in an extension class teaching students gold prospecting in the classroom and in the field.

Casey founded the Highland Chapter known as the Inland Empire Prospectors and Miners.  He enlisted chapter members to help with mailing lists and other tasks at GPAA headquarters and motivated chapter members to have a booth at the local GPAA shows. He was great at telling some tall tales to keep the chapter meetings interesting.  He was elected Chapter President for 3 terms until his death.

Casey, you will be missed.

Members and guests are welcome to attend each meeting
& help plan outings for IE Prospectors & Miners.
